THE HOLE
& CORNER PRESS
The Hole & Corner
Press is the bibliographical teaching press of the Kenneth Spencer Research
Library at the University of Kansas. It was founded by Alexandra Mason in the
1960s. Since then Nora J. Quinlan, Joe Springer, and Richard W. Clement have served
as proprietors. The press has introduced many students to the mysteries of printing,
particularly those in the History of the Book.
The
original press is a Washington style manufactured in Chicago in the 1890s. It has
been in Lawrence many years, having served as a proof press for the University Daily
Kansan in the 1930s.
